Finding Your Inner Strength

Todays  post comes from a featured follower who wishes to share some inspirational as to how a life coach can help fight the battle of cancer. You all know how I love inspiration so I would love to share this sent to me from Ms. Emily W. who wishes to inform the world for a moment.

"Facing a cancer diagnosis is a monumental task, and most people can benefit from the help and support a life coach can provide. According to the Mayo Clinic, many cancer survivors say they relied on their own inner strength to help fight the battle and move beyond their diagnosis. When a patient first learns their mesothelioma prognosis or breast cancer diagnosis, they are often wracked with questions and doubts. Some wonder if they have the inner strength to fight this battle. Many patients are physically and emotionally exhausted when they finally find the cause behind their symptoms. A life coach can't fight the battle for you, but they can help any cancer victim find their own inner strength.

Many people may become weighted down by their past. Someone who lacks self-esteem may feel that they lack the courage and mental fortitude to fight cancer. A life coach can help you discover your own worth in a way that a support group or family member cannot. Your coach can help you move beyond your past and become someone strong enough to cope with a serious disease like mesothelioma. You don't need to resolve past issues in order to move forward, all you need to do is teach yourself new patterns and ways of thinking. A positive attitude may not change your prognosis, but it will make all the difference in how you feel day to day.

A cancer diagnosis can change your life and drastically alter the way you live. The changes can be difficult to cope with, and a life coach can help you set personal goals and focus on finding ways to keep doing what you love. Sometimes it can be hard not to sink into depression and hopelessness, and many cancer victims even feel guilty for not remaining positive all the time. Some health professionals will even tell patients that their attitude can directly affect the outcome of their disease, leaving patients feeling responsible when treatments don't work or conditions deteriorate. A life coach can help you deal with negative feelings in a positive way, without guilt or judgment. With the help of a coach you can learn to deal with the people in your life, and find ways to keep other people from bringing you down."

-Emily W.

Thank you greatly Emily for the courage to share your inspiration. God bless Emily!

Motivational Video of the Week: The Beautiful Truth

Today I wanted to share this intriguing health documentary that I really enjoyed because of the topics it covered and people interviewed. A young boy goes on a journey to find the truth in the food, cancer, pharmacuical and dental industry. The topics covered are genetically modified foods, food additives, The Gerson Therapy, curing cancer, truth in the cancer treatment and therapy, flouride, obesity, juicing, and much more.

The video is not the most exciting, however I will say the topic is thoroughly investigated which makes it worth watching. You can find more great health and food documentaries at Snagfilms.com

The Godfather of fitness, Jack Lalanne lifetime Tribute

Today the fitness industry is filled with a mass amount of fitness guru's, nutrition specialists, training experts, also commercial products stated to get you six pack abs, toned gluteus and thighs, diet pills, miracle pills, miracle drinks, etc. However there was a day when one man informed the whole nation. One man with a passion that he diligently pursued. His name was Jack Lalanne, and he lived, ate, and breathed what he preached, and that was fitness. Yet I would like to say that he was so far ahead of his time in his philosophies and entrepreneurial ways that what he was preaching was modern day wellness. He spoke of mental health, physical health, nutritional health, attitude, and all the fantastic elements that make up the wellness sphere of improving ones quality of life that he had to be ahead of the curve every step of the way. So I believe we all owe a great thanks to Mr. Lalanne who provided us with the Jumping "Jacks", opened the first health spa and Coed health club, and developed the cable/pulley machines  we use everyday. Jack was one of my heroes due to his true passion to teach and inspire others to be better than they were yesterday, to really live and fuel that life with exercise and good nutrition that is why he is one of my heroes, the Godfather of fitness Jack Lalanne.

Jack was a great asset not just to the fitness and nutrition community but to society as well, he was an innovator, a leader, and great family man...my hats off to you sir! Jack Lalanne recently passed away at the ripe age of 96, where he was still in seemingly great shape for his age. I'm extremely sad about this because since I first heard about Jack when I was a young buck in the industry I made it a life goal to meet him, now I never will. Now we can relive his genius and be inspired through the recovered videos from his television show to keep us fit, firm, and live long! Rest in eternal health Jack. Heres to you!

Fat Loss & Six Pack Abs Programs... 30lbs in 30 days...Really!? Where is the truth!?

Alright fellow fitness freaks so I get a lot of questions about cutting up, losing weight, six pack abs, fat loss, etc. and during my research I keep finding a lot of nonsense and bull about getting fit and people selling gimmicks, diets, and childish toys that are said to get these fitness models into shape...hmmm very convincing right!?
Well I'm glad you don't fall for that because if you know me and follow my site you know I am all about being blunt and up front about whats going on out there in the commercial fitness industry. So what I did was find a couple of fitness professionals that really know what they are talking about, not just freakishly jazzed up and trying to sell you something but I actually researched their credentials and theories and these programs are legit.
So what I'm trying to do here is help you, my fellows, easily find the honest programs out there. When my own program (coming very soon) is up and ready I will be promoting the hell out of it, because it will obviously be the best. However until then, you be the judge and check these guys out:

Q n A: How do you get six pack abs?

Q & A:
"Nick, How do you get six pack abs!? Thanks for all the fitness info! Keep it coming!"
-Ken

This question comes from Ken H., 21 of Chandler, AZ.

Thanks for the question Ken and continued support! Ah the classic six pack mystery! I love this one because yes it is key to a young buck like yourself. Alright I'm going to keep it short as I promised, so if you really want those six pack abs my friend, you must be willing to make some difficult sacrifices; no late night pizza, beer must be limited, cookies, ice cream, soda and all are out of the question. Don't worry, if you can do this for one month, after that it will become habit.

1. Workout like you mean it! No lolly gaggin around the gym and hanging out for social hour; when your at the gym go all out. No distractions. All the while performing high intensity workouts, varied with circuit training, full body exercises focusing on your core and lot's of calorie killin leg exercises (Squats, Leg Press, Dead Lifts, Lunges).

2. Cardio 2-3 days per week of at least 30 minutes each bout.

3. Fuel: Become more carb conscious (Kill the foods you know are not good for you, this is going to be your biggest challenge), overload your diet with vegetables (asparagus, red bell peppers, broccoli, etc), and insane amounts of water.

This should be a good start for you, if we were training together we would have plenty of time to get down to the nitty gritty details and specific workouts. But just remember #3 is going to make all the difference. Yet without #1 performed correctly there will be no muscle, so the combination of all 3 is key.

Now get off your butt stop reading this and go get shredded!

Oh, and there is also this program that is actually legit. I've watched the whole video and am working on developing a similar program. He is genius. Click Here!

Top 5 Effective Ways to Stick to Your New Years Resolutions: Fitness edition

1-Re-evaluate goals-Shoot for the Stars-Take ACTION!
7 months ago you made some new years resolutions that may have consisted of eating better, falling in love, enjoy life and getting in shape, right? Well now would be the time to re-evaluate your resolutions, and take action!
  •  Step 1: Target one you have not accomplished yet, start small and today, not tomorrow.
  • Step 2: For the resolutions you have accomplished, re-evaluate by taking that resolution to the next level and setting a more challenging goal to hit.
Whats standing between you
and your goal?
2-Consistency is Key-Build Momentum: Momentum is a key part of consistent exercise. When you fall of track, getting back is always tough, partly because you've lost that momentum. Think of yourself like a stalled car...once you start pushing it, it'll pick up speed and you won't have to work as hard to keep it moving.

3-Do something out of the ordinary: Do something out of your comfort zone, challenge yourself! I suggest a class pertaining to your goals! Try a group exercise class; you never know whom you might meet. Burn 400 calories in cycling, get motivated and fit with a trainer, relax after all that with a yoga class. Most of all, I want you to have fun getting fit!

4-Get Inspired: Inspiration-the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something (Webster, 2009). By definition, getting inspired is a process. The best way to start on the process of inspiration is to look for articles, books, and biographies on people who have accomplished what you seek to do. Whether it is weight loss, starting a business, or running a marathon, there’s bound to be someone that has accomplished it in the face of defeat.

5-Find a buddy: This could be a friend, co-worker, sibling, significant other, children, or even a motivating trainers; hey they’re crazy, but make good friends too! Even if they may seem like the “food police.” Whoever it may be, this will help you to build accountability if that is one of your main barriers to success.

Motivational Quote of the Day for: Exercise 2

"Act as though and it shall be.
The seed you sow today will not produce crop till tomorrow. For this reason, your identity does not lie in your current results. This is not who you are. Your current results are who you were."
Notice the difference between the first
seed planted and the last, where do you wish
to be not just tomorrow, but in 3, 6, or 12 months?
- James A. Ray

Many times in life we are persuaded to take the easy way out, a "quick fix", yet that quick fix never completely does the job does it? It never really fixes anything...which then makes you wonder why the heck did I waste my time and do it in the first place when I could have been working towards something greater. I challenge you today to not take the easy way out, go the easy route, or quick fix in your exercise and weight training adventure, and in life! Things that come to easy are usually not worth having (unless of course if it's free mint chocolate chip ice cream...low fat/slow churned of course). So if your thinking to attempt that 20 lbs in 30 days diet, or miracle pill that will burn fat in your target areas, or that piece of equipment sold late at night said to get you "Killer abs" just by using this T bar looking device held together by rubber bands that looks like a makeshift missile launcher...think again, and ask yourself:  "is this just going to get me to what I want tomorrow, or will it inspire me to be who I wish to be?"

Motivational Quote of the Day for: Success 1

"Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become, everything else is secondary." -Steve Jobs, Founder & CEO of Apple, Inc.

This quote of the day comes from one of my favorite companies, business man, and inventor Steve Jobs. If you don't know who he is by now, then you might want to lift that rock you've been living under for the past decade! I'm sure your using something he has invented on a daily basis or probably reading this post from it like an iPhone, iPod, Mac Book, iPad...ya thats all him. Anyway lets get on with it, his lasting words come from this video below where he gave a Commencement Address at Stanford in 2005. The video is a bit lengthy as he talks about his amazing rags to riches story, and life lessons along the way; so if you want to skip through to the epic ending jump to 12:03 minutes or right to the quote at 12:46 minutes.

It's Monday, make it a great week!

What is Wellness?

What is....WELLNESS?

Today we hear this term more than ever before, “Wellness” yet what does it truly mean?

Oddly enough there is no universally accepted definition of wellness. However, there is a set of common characteristics that are seen throughout each attempt of a definition. Well leave it to Charles B. Corbin, author and professor of Arizona State University's Department of Exercise and Wellness who states it best: “Wellness is a multidimensional state of being describing the existence of positive health in an individual as exemplified by quality of life and a sense of well-being.” (Corbin, 2009)

The dimensions of wellness that Corbin is referring to consist of the physical, emotional-mental, intellectual, social, and spiritual dimensions:

·      Physical wellness is a personal ability to function effectively in meeting the demands of the days work; which includes good physical fitness and useful motor skills. In this realm of wellness, adopting a routine including physical activity would contribute to positively influencing this area of wellness. Increasing ones physical health will aid in their overall fitness, which then benefits their overall health in decreasing ones risk factors for such diseases, like high blood pressure and diabetes.

·      Emotional-Mental wellness is a person’s ability to cope with daily circumstances and personal feelings in a positive manner. Being able to manage stress would immensely aid someone in this realm. Managing their stress would help to keep their mindset optimistic and decrease many cardiovascular complications due to stress.

·      Intellectual wellness is a person’s ability to learn and apply information to enhance the quality of living and functioning. One lifestyle behavior to adopt in this realm would be to stay on top of current events, especially in ones field of study. This would keep them well informed rather than being ignorant in what they study.

·      Social wellness is a person’s ability to interact with others successfully and to create significant relationships that improve the quality of life for all people involved. Developing a habit of getting involved with events that happen at work/family. Also keeping close ties with friends and family. These behaviors would contribute to the health of establishing those friendships and building ones social network.

·      Spiritual wellness is a person’s ability to establish a system of values and beliefs, as well as founding meaningful goals to be carried out. One behavior that someone could benefit from is seeking his or her purpose in life. This brings about many questions that may cause one to experience life at a different and more meaningful life once understood.  (Corbin, 2009)

Extreme Bootcamp: Caveman Training

Sooo you think you workout hard? Feel like you got "good sweat" today at the gym, right? Well theres a little something called Caveman Training these days that will make your "BodySculpting" class look like a an elementary school at recess!
This type of training is getting really popularized by MMA fighters and in my opinion is phenomenal for building functional strength and breaking up that same old "Back & Bi's" routine every Thursday at 6pm. I hope this motivates you to get creative and continue to challenge yourself everyday! Not just at the gym, but in everything you do in life!
