What is CrossFit?

So you’ve caught a glimpse of The Crossfit Games on ESPN, heard some of your friends raving about getting their ass kicked in some place referred to as a “Box” and probably mentioning the term “burpees”, now you want to know what this new method of training is?

In an effort to best explain more about what CrossFit is, I’ve taken the definition from a local box, CrossFit Scottsdale:

  •  “CrossFit is an incredibly effective method of burning fat and building muscle. It is a core strength and conditioning program. We perform functional movements at high intensity, giving you a comprehensive full-body workout in under an hour. Classes are instructor-led, and peer-driven, providing an excellent mixture of individual coaching and group motivation. Workouts are constantly varied and unique, which means every workout uses different exercises, universal standards and completion criteria, ensuring that you always make progress and never get bored. Some exercises will be familiar and many will be new, you will always be challenged to achieve elite fitness. Anyone can excel at CrossFit, and everyone who is committed will. It will change your life and how you view health and fitness. You will never be expected to lift weights beyond your fitness level or perform movements beyond your skill set. However, you will always be coached, encouraged and challenged to improve your performance and test your skill set.” And for those visual learners out there here is a video from CrossFitHQ answering the questions "What is CrossFit?"

Hopefully that gave you some more insight as to why you might want to give your local CrossFit box near you a try. Search for the best-rated box using my favorite search tool Yelp of course-http://www.yelp.com

Coffee with an herbal twist- Gano Cafe

So what if I told you the herbal twist in the coffee is...mushrooms! I know, crazy right. That's what I thought some years back when I first heard about it. But not just your classic button or shitake mushroom, this is a specific chinese medicinal mushroom (read more here). And to be honest, the flavors are great, and I get amped. Yet this specific blend of coffee has no caffeine which is why it has my stamp of approval. I've been drinking the 3-in-1 but excited to try the ginseng infused batch when it comes in this week. Either way, if your an avid coffee drinker, this is worth a try.
